| Situation | What to Do |
|---|---|
| You do not want the next charge | Cancel through the Apple App Store or Google Play before the store's stated deadline. |
| You deleted the application | The subscription is not cancelled automatically. Complete cancellation through the store. |
| You are deleting your OPHIR account | First cancel the subscription separately, then submit the account deletion request. |

| The purchase was through Apple | Manage cancellation through Apple Account and request a refund through Apple Report a Problem. |
| The purchase was through Google Play | Manage cancellation and a refund request through the applicable Google Play tools. |
| You have a mandatory consumer right | That right continues to apply regardless of OPHIR or store rules. |
1. Scope
This document applies to OPHIR subscriptions purchased through:
- the Apple App Store;
- Google Play.
It supplements:
- the OPHIR Terms of Service;
- the Subscription Management guide;
- information displayed on the purchase screen;
- the purchase receipt;
- applicable Apple or Google rules.
The specific plan, price, currency, billing period, trial offer, and renewal date are determined by the information displayed and confirmed at purchase.
2. Cancellation Compared With a Refund
Cancellation stops automatic renewal and future charges after the time determined by the store. Access to paid features generally continues until the end of the current paid period unless the store or applicable law provides otherwise.
A refund is a full or partial return of a completed payment. Cancellation alone:
- does not reverse previous billing periods;
- does not create an automatic right to a refund;
- does not cancel a payment already processed by the store;
- does not replace a separate refund request.
A refund decision depends on the purchase channel, timing, reason, store rules, and applicable law.
3. When to Cancel
Check the next renewal date in the store's subscription section. To avoid a new charge, complete cancellation before the deadline stated by Apple or Google.
For a trial or introductory period:
- review the end date before accepting the offer;
- set your own reminder;
- cancel in advance if you do not want the paid subscription to begin;
- confirm that the store recorded the cancellation.
Apple recommends cancelling a free or discounted trial at least 24 hours before it ends. For Google Play and the specific plan, follow the deadline shown by the store.
4. Cancelling an Apple App Store Subscription
On iPhone or iPad:
- open Settings;
- tap your name;
- select Subscriptions;
- select OPHIR;
- tap Cancel Subscription;
- review the confirmation or expiry date.
If there is no cancellation button and an expiry message appears, the subscription may already be cancelled.
Official Apple instructions: https://support.apple.com/en-ca/118428
Use the Apple Account that made the purchase. If you cannot find the subscription, review the receipt and any other Apple Accounts you use.
5. Cancelling a Google Play Subscription
On an Android device:
- open Google Play;
- tap the profile icon;
- select Payments and subscriptions;
- select Subscriptions;
- select OPHIR;
- tap Cancel subscription;
- follow the instructions and review the confirmation.
Manage subscriptions on the web: https://play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions
Official Google Play instructions: https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/7018481
Use the Google Account that made the purchase. Uninstalling the application does not cancel the subscription.
6. What Happens After Cancellation
Unless the store states otherwise:
- automatic renewal stops;
- no new charge for a later period should occur after cancellation takes effect;
- paid access generally continues until the end of the paid period;
- paid features may become unavailable when the period ends;
- user data is not automatically deleted;
- financial accounts are not automatically disconnected;
- the OPHIR account is not automatically deleted.
Keep a screenshot, email, or other cancellation confirmation. If another charge occurs after a confirmed and timely cancellation, contact the store and OPHIR.
7. Deleting the Application or Account
Deleting the OPHIR application does not tell Apple or Google to cancel the subscription.
Deleting an OPHIR account and cancelling a subscription are also separate processes:
- subscription cancellation governs future store charges;
- account deletion governs access to and data held by OPHIR;
- disconnecting Plaid governs the financial account connection.
Recommended order:
- cancel the subscription through the store;
- keep the confirmation;
- disconnect financial accounts if appropriate;
- submit the account and data deletion request.
8. Requesting an Apple Refund
For a purchase billed by Apple:
- sign in at https://reportaproblem.apple.com;
- select the option to request a refund;
- choose the reason;
- select OPHIR or the applicable subscription;
- submit the request;
- check the request status with Apple.
Official Apple instructions: https://support.apple.com/en-us/118223
Apple determines whether a purchase qualifies under its refund rules, taking account of country, region, and mandatory law. OPHIR cannot sign in to a user's Apple Account or guarantee Apple's decision.
If OPHIR did not provide the purchased feature or a technical error occurred, also contact support@joinophir.app. We can review OPHIR access status and provide relevant information, but we do not request an Apple Account password or full card number.
9. Requesting a Google Play Refund
For a purchase billed by Google Play:
- open the Google Play refund request page;
- sign in to the Google Account used for the purchase;
- find the OPHIR order;
- describe the issue and submit the request;
- keep the confirmation and check its status.
Official Google Play refund request: https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/15574897
Google Play refund policies: https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/2479637
Google explains that, depending on the circumstances, a user may request a refund from Google or contact the developer. If the store directs you to OPHIR, email support@joinophir.app and provide the order number, date, amount, currency, and a concise explanation.
Do not send your full card number, Google Account password, PIN, or one-time code.
10. When to Contact OPHIR
Contact support@joinophir.app if:
- the store shows an active subscription but paid features did not open;
- the purchase was not restored after changing devices or reinstalling;
- a charge succeeded but OPHIR does not recognize the subscription;
- you do not understand which plan is linked to the OPHIR account;
- the store directs the request to the developer;
- you need OPHIR information for a dispute;
- a technical access issue occurs after cancellation.
Include:
- Apple or Android platform;
- the OPHIR account email;
- purchase or charge date;
- plan name;
- order or transaction number;
- a concise description of the issue;
- a redacted receipt image if needed.
Do not send banking passwords, your full card number, security code, PIN, or one-time code.
11. Unauthorized or Unrecognized Charges
If you do not recognize a charge:
- review receipts and family purchases;
- check other Apple Accounts or Google Accounts;
- secure the store account and payment method;
- report the unauthorized transaction to Apple or Google;
- contact the payment-method issuer if appropriate;
- notify OPHIR if the charge relates to our application.
Do not use an ordinary refund request instead of reporting fraud if the transaction was genuinely unauthorized.
12. Consumer Rights
Nothing in this document, the Terms of Service, or store rules excludes or limits rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.
For Quebec consumers, the Consumer Protection Act may provide remedies for distance contracts in certain circumstances, including:
- required information was not provided before purchase;
- the contract or confirmation was not received;
- the purchased service was not provided;
- a charge was incorrect or not disclosed;
- a refund was not made after a legally valid cancellation.
The availability of a remedy depends on the facts, deadlines, the party legally treated as the merchant, and the payment channel. This document is not legal advice.
Official information from the Office de la protection du consommateur:
https://www.opc.gouv.qc.ca/consommateur/sujet/achat/internet/annulation/
If you believe a mandatory right was not respected:
- preserve the purchase screen, receipt, correspondence, and cancellation confirmation;
- contact Apple or Google through the purchase channel;
- send OPHIR a detailed request;
- contact the Office de la protection du consommateur or obtain legal advice if necessary.
13. Disputes and Chargebacks
A chargeback through the card issuer may be available where provided by law or payment-method rules. Before initiating one:
- try to cancel and request a refund through the correct channel;
- preserve evidence;
- confirm that the dispute concerns the correct transaction;
- understand that the store may restrict the associated account during its investigation.
This section does not prevent immediate reporting of fraud or use of a mandatory chargeback right.
14. Changes
Apple, Google, and applicable law may change their procedures. Before cancelling or requesting a refund, review the subscription status, renewal date, receipt, purchase terms, and current store instructions.
